Vale extraordinary human @matthewjukes . How grateful I am that Margaret Lehmann rang me in 1999 to tell me she had two young Wine writers at her table in the Barossa Valley. They wanted to know about matching wine with Asian food so she rang me and asked me to look after you. When you came to Sydney, we did a fun round of various restaurants to taste the food and see the wine lists. You and I have been friends ever since. You were impressive then and only to become much more so in your incredible knowledge and positivity about Wine. What you have done for Australian Wine with 100 Best Australian wines which was all your initiative you put on at your own expense and toured in the UK and abroad. The Australian wine industry is much poorer without you supporting it. I’m so grateful we had a wonderful lunch in London a couple of weeks ago. As we always did every year when I was there. Then you were absolutely magnificent as international guest judge at Sydney Royal Wine show. The only person to have been invited twice and this year was 20 years since your first such judging. You were as always fun, knowledgeable, inspirational, professional and encouraging of all.
My heart goes out to Amelia and your four children. Much as we are all sad and reeling from this news, the reality of it for your family is devastating. Only the good die young. Oh how I will miss you, the sound of your voice and the glint in your eye. RIP mighty Matthew.
It was a pleasure to spend two days judging the @melbourne.royal Branded Meat and Charcuterie Competitions.
In Sydney I am on the management side so it’s fun to be able to judge with some interesting chefs, butchers and other industry experts. Most importantly, the event shines a well-deserved spotlight on the quality, dedication and innovation of Australian producers.
Behind every Melbourne Royal medal is a producer or craftsperson whose skill, passion and dedication have been recognised by their peers. When you see that medal on branded meat or smallgoods, you can trust you`re choosing a product of outstanding quality. 🥩🏆

🍷✨ A wonderful evening shared around the table…
One of my highlights when visiting Melbourne is to catch up with the wonderful Stephanie Alexander. There’s something special about sitting down with someone who shares your love of food, seasonal produce, stories and history. Stephanie of course has inspired generations, educating with her amazing SAKGF and also the 30th anniversary release of her Cook’s Companion. I was so happy to have interviewed her for my story in Selector magazine.
From the kitchen to the table, we both believe food is about more than just what’s on the plate, it’s about curiosity, generosity and the joy of sharing a meal. The whole experience came together @roma.melbourne. Great service, wonderful food and perfect wine advice. A very special evening with a very special chef. ❤️

Can you believe it`s been almost 20 years since I travelled around Australia with The Australian Women`s Weekly Road Train?
I`d fly in for a few days at a time to present cooking demonstrations, while an amazing full-time crew kept the Road Train rolling. There was our driver and his wife, who also presented for the dairy industry, a hair and makeup artist looking after both us and members of the public, financial advice from the Commonwealth Bank, breast cancer information sessions and so much more. It was a wonderful initiative that brought education, inspiration and a real sense of community to towns across Australia.
We kicked it all off with the Today Show at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and here`s a photo with the wonderful James Blundell. Looking back, it was one of those fun experiences you always remember.
Did the Road Train ever visit your town? I`d love to hear your memories! 🚛❤️

Perfect for entertaining, these Warm Chocolate Chilli Soft-Centred Puddings can even be prepared ahead of time, making them an effortless finale to your next dinner party. Serve with vanilla ice cream or crème fraîche and enjoy with a glass of sparkling Shiraz for the perfect match.

🇫🇷 And that’s a wrap on an unforgettable French immersion experience!
After two somewhat challenging weeks of learning, exploring and embracing everyday life in France, it’s time to say au revoir to my French school and the incredible people who made it so special. And to the 38’C heat.
Studying French in the heart of France has been an interesting experience, from mastering new tenses and improving my confidence in speaking, to discovering the culture, food and traditions that make this area so interesting.
Thanks to my colleagues from around the world as well as my teacher @kee_cim and the school for the patience, encouragement and laughter along the way. Learning a language is about so much more than words; it’s about opening the door to a deeper understanding of a place and its people. The locals were all under strict instructions to only speak French to us!
Merci for the memories… À bientôt! 🇫🇷✨

Spending Bastille Day in France was a truly special experience.
In the beautiful hilltop town of Sancerre, we joined locals at the town`s war memorial to honour those who served their country. It was a moving reminder that, even in the smallest communities, these traditions are deeply valued and proudly upheld.
After the ceremony, the Mayor warmly invited everyone to the Mairie for a Bastille Day reception. It was such a generous welcome, with locals gathering over glasses of Sancerre white, rosé and red, alongside delicious Crottin de Chavignol, freshly baked gougères and a classic potato tart.
I cheekily asked the mayor for a photo. He was keen to practice his English but the minute the director of my language school approached we had to revert to French!
I love these unexpected moments, sharing local traditions, food and conversation - one of the joys of travelling.
